 So busy, but busy good
Last week, a friend started reading some of the older stuff on the site, and showing me some of
the funny ones. This led me to a revelation. The revelation is that the comics used to be
funnier. I think they used to be funnier before I started trying to do a running storyline.
This is probably because I'm not consistent enough to do the story arcs. If I want to do them
well, I think I have to write like a year's worth and make certain that I don't skip to many
when posting. Right now, I don't have the free time to do that, so I'm returning to my
origins. Outside of holidays or rare short arcs, I'm going to go back to no arcs. All of the
current story lines, except the mini Jacob one, should be at a good point to pause them. Life
often has sections of same old, same old too, so just think of this as a lull in their
lives.

I'll try this for a while and see how it goes. Hopefully it'll get back to more regular and
consistent hilarity. Feel free to let me know what you think, people often do.

Now, onto other things. This weekend I got to see Dave McGraw and Mandy
Fer. It was a great concert, and I recommend seeing them or buying their CD if you get the
chance. The lyrics they use create vivid images when I listen to them. It's really pretty
cool, and I forget that music can do this most of the time, since many artists just use vague
phrases or no imagery at all when they write lyrics. An example of what I mean is "Seed of a
Pine" I can imagine an old woman sitting, sipping her drink, looking at a photograph
reminiscing/dreaming, next to a window, with the sun shining on her, next to a forest. It's
just such a strong image, maybe it comes from listening to radio stories when I was a child,
but to see stores in your mind when listening to music is just an amazing thing. These two
didn't start out together, but last year when I went to a Willy Porter concert, they opened for him, and they had just started
performing together. I bought their cds that night, and they're good, but together, these two
are exceptional. They bring a power to each other's songs. It's very cool, and when you see
them in person, they bring a lot of life to their songs, often moving the song into a jam. Now
this music is folky, which isn't what I normally listen to, but if you listen to it, really
listen to the words and just let the music take over, it's great. So yeah, check them out.

Aaaaaand, on to other things. This was a very comic weekend. I've been working on trying to
write a comic to give away for free at conventions this year. Unfortunately, unlike previous
years, I have other high priority side projects going on too. Plus I'm now in emergency
support in my job, so occasionally that will eat into my free time. On the bright side, I might
have it seventy-five percent written, and I have a cover fifty percent done. Make that
seventy-five percent, I've been working on it while writing this. Here's a quick preview, in
case I end up not finishing this.

Also, I've been constructing a LARP'ing shield that will be used as coat of arms trophy for a
five year anniversary video game tournament, that I might hold. Whether or not I hold it,
depends on if I can finish the prizes before April, and if I can get and set up a server with a
game before then, while juggling everything else. Like I've said, things are a bit, busy.

 Also, I saw Batman Year
One which was ok, but not amazing, but I've never been a big Miller fan. He's a very good
writer, and he can weave a good story, but I'm not fond of the subject matter, or how he
destroys heroes. The animation of this was good. The voice acting was ok, I miss the batman
from Batman the Animated Series. There were random fight scenes that made no sense to me, and
it was a rather dark look at Batman, and before people yell at me about that comment, yes, I
know Batman started out as a vigilante that killed people, so, kind of dark.

Also, if you haven't seen it, The Legend of Neil has some great moments in it. Their musical episode had
me laughing out loud. Be warned, this is adult material.

Ok, I think that's it for now. Catch you all later this week.
