Wow.
It's been so long since I've been hopeful in my country. In fact, I can't remember the last time I was hopeful in America, but now I'm starting to get there. I was doubtful of Obama. He was just another politician who talked a good game. I tried to keep a glimmer of hope that he actually wanted to change things for the better, unlike a lot of previous presidents. Well, yesterday he was elected, and his speech, in my opinion, was very good. He lost the crowd about half way through, but that was when he turned from "we need to change gov" to "we need each and everyone of you to help us". It sounded like he actually wanted everyone to get involved, like he actually wants this country to get better. I was impressed, but he was/is still a politician, so I was also hesitant to trust the words. Then, through out the night, commercials he put out, started to air. They're trying to get people to go here. Then I see this article. Suddenly I'm starting to be optimistic. Maybe he does want change. It looks like he's using the power the president has, the power to move the people, to actually try and help.

This is the first president, in my life time, that has so many people believing in/backing him. He is in a perfect position to enact change. Here's hoping he can actually do it, and that he changes the world for the better. Here's also hoping that he enacts change and goes down in the history books as an amazing president, instead of simply going down in the books as the first non-white president. I really hope that his accomplishments are just foot notes, and I'm hoping that because I'm starting to believe that he will enact positive change in this country. Only time will tell. Until then, perhaps I'll sign up to help out at his page and keep my fingers crossed.
