Annoying ads
Well, these ads have started again, and boy do they annoy the hell out of me. If I was every going to buy a mac, and I have thought about it on occasion, I never will now. They make the mac into a yuppie whiny bum of a pretty boy. Personally, that's not what I want on my lap. Not sure I want a business man on my lap either, but at least he can pay.

Now, on to the AMD vs Intel bit. In all truth, I don't really care one way or the other. I used to be a big AMD man, but that was back when they did better for gaming, now Intel is better for gaming, so they're the one I go with. Oddly, my loyalities are based on the usage, no longer on the brand.

Now here are some mac vs pc links. Enjoy:

Star Trek Movie (2009)
Well, I just saw what I guess we're calling "Star Trek". IT was.. um... for lack of a better word, an "experience". It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't great. I went back and forth between slightly enjoying it and loathing it. It's what happens when someone other than the WB tries to do what the WB does ( I do actually like a couple WB shows, Smallville and Supernatural, but it takes the right mix to make all that drama work ). Unfortunately, this appears to be the way all scifi is going now. You have your "edgy" villain with a troubled past, in an organic'ish ship that makes no practical sense. He threatens to destroy things and does, while the heroes run around all teen angst/emo like, but eventually save the day. This movie is no different. They replace plot and story with dramatic shots, emotional expressions/outbursts, and pointless music or silence, much like Battlestar Galactica did in it's final two seasons.

The movie wasn't terrible for a generic action flick with some generic special effects. If you're looking to see a Star Trek movie, don't watch this. It has nothing to do with the Star Trek universe, outside of similar uniforms, characters with the same names (but different personalities/characters), and ships that look the same from the outside. The insides of the ships were redesigned in completely impractical manners, looking like they handed the design over to Mac's design department, all shiny form and no function. On occasion (very rare), the actors/actresses pulled an expression or inflection that the original cast used, but for the most part, they were completely different characters, except for Winona Ryder. She actually pulled off an almost eerie performance, matching Spock's mom character from the TV show almost perfectly in both mannerisms and vocal impressions. Her performance was exceptional. The others, played their characters most likely as directed, but they really weren't the original crew. If any of you watched Stargate, there was an episode where they were going over new plot lines for a stargate based show, and in it they suggested getting younger more hip actors to play all of them, well you take that skit, and you have what the new Star Trek is like. In fact at time it did seem like they were doing a Star Trek spoof. They even threw in some pointless slapstick/Willy Wonka-ness.

Not a terrible film, but I won't really recommend it. Yeah, that's pretty much it, I won't recommend it and I won't ask for my money back. I'm sorry if any of you were actually hoping for a Star Trek movie, but you should've realized from the ads that it wouldn't be.
